Charles “Slim” Randolph Hodge, 78, of Williamsville died Monday, September 26, 2005 at the University of Virginia Hospital.
He was born April 3, 1927 in Williamsville, a son of the late Gratton Ernest and Ada Elizabeth Thrope Hodge.
Mr. Hodge was a member of the Williamsville Presbyterian Church. He had hosted a music program on WABH in Deerfield called Slim and The Tower Hill Mountain Boys. He owned and operated Slim’s Grocery Store in Williamsville.
On October 5, 1946, he married Alice Marie Myers Hodge, who preceded him in death on December 18, 2001. He was also predeceased by a brother, Virgie Hodge and a sister Ernestine McRoberts.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Brian Puhle of Hot Springs and Pam and Billy Webb of Burnsville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Cathy Hodge of Hot Springs, Donnie and Ingrid Hodge of Stafford and Ronnie and Adaline Hodge of Williamsville; a grandson, Stephen Hodge of Hot Springs; three granddaughters, Tara Hodge of Frederick, Md, Svenja Hodge of Stafford and Jessica Webb of Burnsville; a sister-in-law Blanche Hodge of Hot Springs and a special cousin, Gracie Simmons of Hot Springs.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2005 at Williamsville Presbyterian Church by Laurence Brunson and Pastor Debbie Carey.
Burial will be in McClintic Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Don Harris, Ray Banks, Robert L. Marshall, Charles D. McCormick, Eddie Webb, Roger Hupman, Tommy McRobers, Ronnie Smith and Charles Hodge.
Honorary pallbearers will be friend attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell.
