Charles "Bickley" Fox Jr.

December 21, 1918 — March 2, 2012

Charles “Bickley” Fox Jr., 93, widower of Josephine Gutshall Fox of Staunton, and formerly of Monterey, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

He was born Dec. 21, 1918 in Monterey, a son of the late Charles Bickley Fox, M.D., and Lona Smith Fox.

Mr. Fox was a veteran of the U.S. Army, in which he served during World War II. Following his career as a Virginia State Trooper, Mr. Fox owned and operated the Circle J Ranch in Mustoe. He was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church, a former member of the Monterey Town Council and enjoyed time spent hunting as well as playing bridge.

In addition to his loving wife and parents, Mr. Fox was preceded in death by a brother, Robert S. Fox, and a sister, Hilda F. Owens.

The last surviving member of his immediate family, Mr. Fox leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, at the graveside in Monterey Cemetery with Pastor Chip Hill officiating.
