Charles Clinton Terry, 78, of McDowell, died Thursday, July 14, 2005 at his home.
He was born Sept. 21, 1926 in West Virginia, a son of the late James and Elizabeth Hoover Terry.
Mr. Terry attended Hiner Church of the Brethren. He served in three branches of the military service: U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, and U.S. Air Force and he was also a U.C. Merchant Marine. He was a civilian employee of the federal government at Fort Meade, Md. working as a heating and air conditioning technician.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Terry, and a sister, Louise Creed.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred C. Terry of McDowell; a stepdaughter, Sandy Botkin and husband, Dale, of McDowell; two stepsons, Richard Blankenship and his wife Linda, and Jim Blankenship and his wife, Louette, all of Baltimore, Md.; a sister-in-law, Helen Myers and her husband, Gilbert of Westminster, Md.; five grandchildren, Jamie and Joe Botkin, Pattie Hankins, Jimmy Blankenship and Angel Mays and two great-granddaughters, Abbie Botkin and Tulula Mays.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 13, at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Garold Senger.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
