Charles “Hotsie” Monroe Tennant, 88, widower of Marjorie (Kincaid) Tennant, of Luray and formerly Dayton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Hawksbill Assisted Living in Luray.
He was born in Williamsville on February 12, 1929, a son of the late Gertha Belle (McCall) and William Moses Tennant Sr.
On March 19, 1966 he married Marjorie Pauline (Kincaid) Tennant who preceded him in death on February 25, 2009.
Mr. Tennant had served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Harrisonburg First Assembly of God for 30 years. He had been employed by private schools as a cook. In addition he was a member of the VFW Post 632 and Moose Lodge.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, James, John and William “Tub” Tennant and two sisters, Rose Tennant and Phyllis Collis.
He is survived by his children, Joyce Lynn Wooldridge, Jacqueline Lee Michalski and Charles Glenn Tennant, all of Roanoke; brother, Harry “Bud” Tennant of Florida; six grandchildren; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Williamsville McClintic Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Ferguson officiating.
