Cecil Milton Ralston

Cecil Milton Ralston, 72, of Crimora an formerly of Monterey, died Sunday evening, April 26, 1992 in King's Daughters' Hospital.

He was born January 17, 1920 at McDowell, the son of the late Cecil W. and Mary (Beverage) Ralston.

On September 10, 1956 he married Pauline Rexrode, who survives.

He was a member of th the Monterey United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Highland V.F.W. Post 4989.

Ralston was sheriff of Highland County for 12 years and was a lifetime member of the Virginia Sheriff's Association. He was a past member of the Monterey Lions Club, had served on the Monterey Town Council for 13 years, had owned and operated Ralston's Phillips 66 station for 13 years, and was also the manager of the Highland Oil Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kathy Estes of Crimora; a sister, Olga Arbogast of Cortland, N.Y.; and two step-grandsons. He is also survived by two sons from a former marriage, Russell Wayne Ralston of Staunton and John Milton Ralston of Portland, Ore.; three granddaughters and one step-grandson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Obaugh Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Ginn and Norman Compton officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Leonard Jackson, A.R. Reid Jr., Harold Ralston, Phillip Cleek, Herbert Lightner and Howard Cook.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Highland County law enforcement community and friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
