BOLAR Carl Joseph Moyers, age 86, of Bolar, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Clifton Forge. He was born August 5, 1928 in Cave, West Virginia a son of the late Luther Martin and Ada (Wilfong) Moyers. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Moyers served during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. That same year he was married to Doris Marie Williams. Mr. Moyers will be fondly remembered as having owned and operated Midway Service Station with his wife, Doris. Mr. Moyers was preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Lee Moyers; as well as three sisters, Shirley Vandevander, Cornelia Pitsenbarger, and Ailene Moyers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Janice M. Moyers of Mt. Airy, MD.; son, Carl A. Moyers and wife, Deborah of Chester; sister, Frances M. Robinson of Strasburg; brothers, Eugene M. Moyers of Harrisonburg and Charles Reid Moyers of Strasburg; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Obaugh Funeral Home with Rev. Frankie Neff officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Grass Cemetery Active pallbearers include Jim Saris, Mick Williams, Lou Kincaid, Bill Bratton, Charlie Williams, Eddie Ailstock and Jed Thomas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Additionally, the funeral home will remain open for those wishing to pay their respects throughout the day and in to the evening on Tuesday.
