Boyd Siron

August 4, 1962 — December 23, 2000

Boyd DeWitt Siron, 58, of McDowell, died Saturday, December 23, 2000 at the home of his son, Doug, in McDowell. He was born June 16, 1942 at McDowell a son of the late James Rodney and Eva Susan (Puffenbarger) Siron.

On August 4, 1962, he married, Frances Puffenbarger.

Mr. Siron was a member of the McDowell Presbyterian Church and a past deacon. He was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator and a generous caregiver to neighborhood children. He was a charter member and past president of the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department and a past member of the Stonewall Ruritan Club.

Mr. Siron was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Frances of McDowell; two sons, Doug and Kristie D. Siron of McDowell, James H. Siron of McDowell; three loving grandchildren, Justin Douglas, James Evan and Jessie Denise Siron; a sister, Violet S. Cox of South Carolina; three brothers, John H. Siron of Staunton, Charles F. Siron of McDowell and Glenn E. Siron of Staunton; a special friend, Roger D. Smith of McDowell and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell by the Rev. Lester LaPrade.

Burial will be in Siron Family Cemetery on Seldom Seen Road. Active pallbearers will be Dean Simmons, Mike Armstrong, Donnie Botkin, Kyle Obaugh, Dale Botkin, Joe Botkin, Craig Smith and Steve Armstrong.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department and friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home of Doug Siron.
