Bonita Flood Poats, 85, of Monterey, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Bath Community Hospital in Hot Springs.
She was born October 5, 1919 in Buckingham County, a daughter of Una Cole and William I. Flood.
In June 1943 she married Louis Poats, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of Monterey United Methodist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Geraldine; and two brothers, Fred and Eugene.
She is survived by one sister Audrey DuVal of Richmond; one daughter, Judith Diann Racheau of Spotsylvania; one son, Eugene Poats and his wife, Connie, of Monterey; two grandchildren, Chantal Toombs of Bowling Green and Mathew Racheau of Stafford; and one great-grandchild, Kayla Racheau of Spotsylvania.
A graveside service was held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens at 12 noon June 27 for family and friends, followed by a memorial service at Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church, Richmond at 2 p.m.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Highland Medical Center, P.O. 490 or Highland County Volunteer Rescue, P.O. Box 268, Monterey, Va. 24465.
