Beulah Botkin

Beulah V. Botkin, 97, of McDowell, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Envoy of Staunton.  She was born July 30, 1912 in Highland County a daughter of George William and Sallie Cathern (Botkin) Varner.

Mrs. Botkin was a homemaker and a member of Hiner Church of the Brethren.  She loved her children, grandchildren and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester James Botkin on October 16, 1992; four sisters, Florence Simmons, Mary Armstrong, Pansy and Cora Botkin; a brother, William E. Varner and a half-brother Carl L. Varner.

She is survived by a son, Herbert J. Botkin and special friend, Sally Robertson of McDowell; a foster daughter, Pat Armstrong of Bridgewater; a foster son, Larry Armstrong and wife, Sue of Churchville; a grandson, Douglas A. Botkin and wife, Sandra K. of Churchville; foster granddaughter, Deanne Smith of Bridgewater; great-grandson, Douglas Dean Botkin of Churchville; great-great-grandson, Alex Botkin; two foster grandsons, Sean Armstrong and wife, Jennifer of Mount Crawford and Christopher Armstrong of Weyers Cave; foster great-grandson, Isaac Armstrong; two foster great-granddaughters, Katelyn and McKenzie Smith and a half-sister, Bertha V. Turner of Verona.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Pastor Garold Senger and Pastor Jack Tucker officiating.  Burial will be in Doe Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Nelson Simmons, Johnny Whitecotton, James Shull, Kyle and Brent Obaugh, Benny Armstrong, Ray Kisamore and Charles Varner.  Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the funeral home.
