Betty Louise (Mayes) Hotz, 83, of Monterey passed away, Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at her home.
She was born July 31, 1941, a daughter of the late Mae Mayes Davis. On May 1, 1958 she married Richard Albert Hotz.
A devout Christian, Mrs. Hotz belonged to many independent congregations over the years, but most recently held membership with Old Paths Baptist Church in Weyers Cave. A nurse assistant, Betty was employed at Pendelton Manor with over twenty-five years’ service. She will be remembered as having loved to play the piano, time spent bowling, traveling to the beach, and listening to gospel music. Above all else, she was a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Predeceased family members include her step-father, Elbert Harris; brothers, Louis Mayes, Jesse Davis and Harvey Davis; and sister, Helen Puckett.
In addition to her husband of 66 years, she is survived by four sons, Richard A. Hotz Jr. of Grottoes, Daniel Hotz and wife, Melissa of Monterey, Stephen E. Hotz of Monterey, and Matthew L. Hotz of Stuarts Draft; brother, Bobby Davis of Chesterfield; sister, Cheryl Unger of Carson; grandchildren, Tiffany Warner, Samantha Hotz, Jade Hotz and Titus Hotz; great-grandchildren, Autumn Harper, and Memphis Hotz; as well as special friends, Berlin and Margaret Beverage.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2024 in Monterey Cemetery with pastor John Smith officiating.
Together with her sons, pallbearers will include Jim Gardner and Larry Propst.
