Betsy Faircloth

Betsy Faircloth, 94, of Jacksonville, Fla. and McDowell, Va., passed away June 13, 2024 in Jacksonville.

She was born in Highland County, Va. on January 5, 1930 to the late Harry Lee and Mary Bess (Hamilton) Marshall.

After attending college classes, she moved to Jacksonville to be with her sister and worked as a legal secretary. She met her husband of 61 years at their church, Riverside Presbyterian. Betsy was involved in her community with organizations such as The Rose Society, Garden Club, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, PTA, Pink Lady at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Children’s Home Society, and DESC. She also was a large supporter and active member of her church by serving as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and member of Women of the Church and Church Circle.

Betsy loved many things in life including her farm in Virginia, raising roses, the arts, her many dachshunds, but most importantly, her family. Betsy will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, who devoted her life caring for her loved ones and others.

Betsy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald Faircloth. She is survived by her children, Marshall Faircloth and Rebecca and Andy McNeil; as well as her grandchildren, Jared and Robin McNeil, Leah McNeil, and Victor Vuong. She will be missed dearly by her family and also her friends, whom she loved as family.

A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m., August 31, 2024 at Riverside Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville, Fla. Additionally, a graveside committal service will be held in Clover Creek Cemetery, McDowell, Va. in the fall.
