Ben Walter Mullenax

Ben Walter Mullenax, 75, of Churchville, died on Saturday morning, May 14, 1994 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 6, 1918 at Blue Grass, a son of Henry Walter and Mamie (Collins) Mullenax.

On July 29, 1961, he married Lillian Wimer, who survives.

He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. He was retired after 17 years as a heavy equipment mechanic for Baker Brothers Inc. and had nine years with the George Washington Forest Service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy and Central Europe and was a member of VFW Post 9666.

In addition to his widow, surviving are two sisters, Gladys Swecker of Harrisonburg and Thelma Mullenax of Staunton; and three brothers Fred and John, both of Franklin, WV and Joe Mullenax of Blue Grass.

Mr. Mullenax was preceded in death by three sisters, Mona Hammer, Edith Mullenax and Geneva Fox.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward Guldenschuh, with burial at Blue Grass Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be J. Maddie Jr., Richard and Harry Swecker, Gene and Robert Hammer and James Mullenax.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Zinkham, Michael, C.W. and Dale Hammer, Robby Rexrode, Dee Newcomb and friends.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in McDowell.

Memorials may be made to to St. James United Methodist Church memorial fund in care of J.H. Lightner, Box 310, Churchville.
