Barbara Puffenbarger

Barbara Christina (Smith) Puffenbarger, 82, of Sugar Grove, died Monday, October 21, 1996 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

She was born Augusta 1, 1914 at Sugar Grove, a daughter of George and Sarah Jane (Hoover) Smith.

She was a housewife and a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Her husband, Roy R. Puffenbarger, preceded her in death on April 20, 1985.

Surviving are a son with whom she made her home, Elden Puffenbarger of Sugar Grove; five daughters, Ella May Huffer of Mt. Solon, Va., Mary Moats of Bridgewater, Va., Sarah Floyd of Mt. Solon, Maggie Knott of Staunton, Va. and Bonnie Reynolds of Toronto, Ohio; a sister, Rebecca Summer of Harrisonburg, Va.; a brother, Raymond Smith of Amelia, Va.; 21 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Lutheran Church by the Rev.  Dr. Robert Schmidt, with burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Sugar Grove.

Pallbearers will be Kyle and Brent Obaugh, Jerry and George Bartley, Clinton Bowers, Nelson Simmons and Steve Varner.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 at Calvary Lutheran Church.
