Austria Wimer

Austria Hazel Wimer, 99, of Blue Grass, died on Tuesday, June 2, 1998 at Augusta Medical Center.

She was born on July 23, 1898, at Blue Grass, a daughter of Lee Jackson and Clementine (Stephenson) Wimer.

She was the oldest member of Blue Grass Presbyterian Church. She had been a a secretary at Virginia Tech from 1922-1942 and a bookkeeper at Blue Grass Valley Bank from 1942-1951. In her early years, she was a school teacher at a local school.

Surviving are several nieces and a special cousin, Alice Lee Massey.

A service will be conducted at 11 .m. on Friday at Monterey Cemetery by the Revs. William C. Cox and William Moore.
