Arnold Wooddell

Arnold Willis Wooddell, 74, of Staunton, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 at Augusta Health.

He was born Aug. 11, 1936 in Highland County, a son of the late Hugh Marvin and Mary Catherine Carpenter Wooddell.

Mr. Wooddell was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a retired truck driver. He attended Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren Church, was an avid NASCAR fan and a member of the Staunton Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Robertson Wooddell; second wife, Sharlene Ambrose Wooddell; and a sister, Judith Switzer.

He is survived by two daughters and sons- in- law, Pam and Ron Linhart of Ozark, Mo., and Terry and Gary Miller of Staunton; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Michelle Wooddell of Blacksburg; four grandchildren, Trevor, Trenton, Taylor and Tyler Wooddell; two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Jaleigha Cusson; a sister, Mary Sue Capps of Chesapeake; a niece, Robin Workman and a nephew, Vernon Wooddell.

A funeral service was conducted 3 p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Darren Massey officiating.

Burial was in McKendree Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Trevor, Trenton, Tyler and Vernon Wooddell, Gilbert Pullin and Ron Linhart.
