Arlie Simmons, 86, of Monterey, died Thursday morning, February 20, 1992 at his home.
He was born October 1, 1905 in Highland County, a son of Williams M. and Mary Catherin (Gum) Simmons.
He was a farmer and had been employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation for 30 years before retiring.
He is survived by his wife Gretta (Wimer) Simmons of Monterey; two daughters, Velda S. Rohrbaugh of Mill Creek, WV, Virginia S. Simmons of Staunton; half-brother, Elbert Fleisher of Franklin, WV; half-sister, Selma Keller of Staunton; four grandchildren, Sheldon E. and Sandra L. Simmons, both of Staunton and Danny Dale Rohrbaugh and Donna Lee Mayhew, both of Mill Creek, WV; two great-grandsons, Danny Dale Rohrbaugh Jr. and Joshua Steven Mayhew, both of Mill Creek, WV.
A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Steve McMillion. Burial will be in the Simmons Family Cemetery near Monterey.
Active pallbearers will be James Skinner, Hoyle Helms, Darrell and Arnold Vandevander, Orion Beverage, Charles and Larry Wagoner, William Brooks and Eric Nolley.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
