Anna Gale (Anderson) McDaniel Terry, 83, of Bolar, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Alleghany Health and Rehab, Clifton Forge.
She was born October 14, 1940 in Mountain Grove, a daughter of the late Roy Wanamaker and Flossie Hannah (Sheets) Anderson. She married the love of her life, Charles “Lowell” Terry, on December 20, 1969 in Bath County.
A Christian from a young age, Anna Gale attended church since she was a child. She was a charter member and was baptized at Mountain Grove United Methodist. She also attended Valley Bethel Church of the Brethren and Hamilton Chapel Advent Christian Church.
Anna Gale worked for Aileen Inc. until the company closed, as well as Bath County Pump Storage Project. She then went to work for The Homestead in Hot Springs in the grounds department until she retired. Anna Gale loved working on the golf course, taking great pride in her work to keep the course mowed and beautiful.
A devoted wife, Anna Gale loved her husband, Lowell, dearly and they found great joy together. She loved going to square dances, street dances or anything else they did as a couple. She enjoyed working the farm with him, raising cattle and sheep. Anna Gale also cherished her chickens; she would spend hours with them and would even talk to them. They were not just her farm animals, but her very loved pets.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her uncle and aunt, Harmon Buzzard and Lucy (Sheets) Buzzard, who raised her after her mother’s death in 1946. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Clyde Anderson, William “Billy” Anderson, Roy “Bud” Anderson Jr, and Clarence “Punk” Anderson; half-brothers, Gerald “Gordy” Anderson, Randall Anderson, and Chester Anderson; and two grandchildren, Becky and Kody.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years; her children, Debra Johnson-Craig (Harold) of Palmyra, Roy McDaniel Jr. and Ronald McDaniel (Linda) of Greene County, Bettina Riner (Chris) of New Hope, and Melonie Napier (Darrell) of Waynesboro; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; as well as six great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell with pastor Mike Puffenbarger officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hamilton Chapel Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Thomas Riner, Logan Riner, Darrell Napier, Scott Green, Louie Kincaid, and Harold Craig Sr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Terry, Jacob Green, and friends in attendance.
