Anna Lee Hevener, 87, of Churchville and formerly of Blue Grass, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 at King’s Daughters Community Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born October 10, 1915 in Monterey, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Lela Sponaugle Wimer.
Mrs. Hevener was a homemaker. She was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Home Demonstration Club in Highland County and the Churchville senior citizens.
Mrs. Hevener was preceded in death her husband, Charles Walker Hevener, who died January 28, 1978. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ester Wagner; a brother, Roland Wimer and a grandson, Danny Joseph Waybright.
She is survived by a daughter, Ina Jean Waybright and her husband, Joseph of Alexandria; a son, Charles Julian Hevener and his wife, Dottie of Staunton; a grandson, Darrell Hevener of Staunton, a granddaughter, Diana Looney of Lorton; a great-grandson, Darran Hevener; three step-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Wimer of Staunton; two sisters, Geneva Sheets and Lillian Mullenax both of Churchville.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2003 at Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Mike Sullivan and Rev. Richard Gibson.
Burial will be in the Blue Grass Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Sponaugle, Mike Looney, Jerry Hevener, Carl Wagner, Ronald Wimer, Fred Cousins, Herman Murphy and Bill Sponaugle.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
