Andrew Simmons

MONTEREY, VA Andrew "Nelson" Simmons, 76, of Monterey, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at his home. He was born February 25, 1939 in Highland County a son of the late James and Margie (Halterman) Simmons. Nelson was a self-employed mechanic. He was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Viola (Seward) Simmons, whom he married on October 12, 1960; his daughter, Tredena Young of Detroit ,MI; two sons, Dennis W. Simmons of Staunton and Kevin D. Simmons of Monterey; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Peggy Shaffier and husband, Julian of Warm Springs and special friends, Ralph and Sudie Selmon. He was preceded in death by his half-brother, Ed Lester. At his request, his body will be cremated with no formal services.
