Amanda Rae Young

Amanda Rae (Coyner) Young, age 42, of Lignum, passed away on Sunday, January 12th, 2025 at Culpepper Hospital.

She was born at King’s Daughters Hospital on December 18th, 1982, a daughter to Tammy Lynn (Conner) Coyner and the late Donald “Cobb” Ray Coyner.

A woman of strong faith in the Lord, Amanda was baptized in and attended Loch Willow Presbyterian Church, and also attended Union Presbyterian Church throughout her youth. Known for her daily prayers and maintaining an ongoing prayer list, Amanda truly had special and life-long relationship with her Lord.

When not working as a self-employed caregiver, Amanda enjoyed baking and crocheting. Above all, she cherished time spent with her beloved daughter, Lynnley. 

She will be remembered for her “tough as nails” personality, resilient strength, and the kindness and patience she extended to all those she encountered. Most of all, she will be remembered for her love.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by an uncle, S.C. Coyner Jr.

Surviving family members include her mother, Tammy Coyner of Churchville; her daughter, Lynnley Young; her brother, Toby Coyner and wife, Heather of Churchville; her partner and best friend, Chris Meyers and his children, Natalie and Catherine of Lignum; uncles and partners, Richie “Shag” Conner and Eunice of Edinburg, Ervin Coyner and Debbie of West Augusta, Douglas “Droop” Conner and Penny, and Tony “Doody” Conner and Missy, all of Churchville; aunts, Brenda Losh and Pat Losh, both of Staunton; and nieces, Adalynn and Leah Coyner.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2025 at Union Presbyterian Church with Pastor Judy Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Ervin Coyner, Doug Conner, Tony “Doody” Conner, Ritchie Conner, Adam Conner, David Conner, Thomas Nicolai, and Josh Nicolai.
