Alma Simmons

October 20, 1917 — January 20, 2006

Alma R. Simmons, age 88, of Franklin, WV and formerly of Blue Grass, died Friday, January 20, 2006 at Pendleton Nursing Home.  She was born October 20, 1917 at Hightown a daughter of the late Luther Loyd and Sadie Catherine (Hevener) Rexrode.  On October 26, 1945, she married Adam Vaiden Simmons, who preceded her in death on April 13, 1989.  She was also predeceased by a sister, Myrtle Rexrode and a brother, Marvin Rexrode and an infant brother.

Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker.  She was a member of Hightown United Methodist Church and Dry Run Home Demonstration Club.  She attended the Highland Senior Citizens.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruby Frances Parks and husband, Newman of Marion and Sarah Elizabeth Hedrick and husband, Keith of Franklin, WV; a son, Luther Blair Simmons and wife, Gena of Harrisonburg five grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2006 by the Revs. Craig and Wendy Richter.  Burial will be in Hightown Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be David and Herbert Lightner, Charlie, Kevin, Travis, Clifton Simmons and Adam Hedrick.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The casket will be closed.
