Alice Calhoun
March 10, 1918 — May 11, 2006
Alice H. Calhoun, age 88, of Monterey, died Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Augusta Medical Center. She was born March 10, 1918 in Rockbridge County a daughter of the late Harry Cleveland and Susie Armentrout (Buchanon) Harlow. On May 11, 1946, she married Dennis Walter Calhoun, who preceded her in death on October 31, 1988. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Hunter, Robert and Thomas Harlow.
Mrs. Calhoun was a member of Monterey Presbyterian Church. She had worked on the assembly line at Dupont during WWII making yarn as well as Western State Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Guy Ingram, Sr. of Millboro and Iva and Bill Smith of Monterey; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, William A. Harlow of Middlebrook and a sister, Gretchen H. Smith of Middlebrook.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 14, 2006 in the Monterey Cemetery by the Rev. Donald E. Rose.
Friends may call at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell anytime after 3 p.m., Saturday.
