Alfred "Buddy" McCray

Alfred “Buddy” Lee McCray, 68, of Moyers, WV, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his home.  He was born December 1, 1947 in Pendleton County, WV a son of the late Robert Brown and Dorothy Elizabeth (Karicofe) McCray.

Buddy was an avid hunter and NASCAR fan.  He was an employee of A & J Development & Excavation in Mt. Crawford.

Surviving family members include his daughter, Dana Marie McCray of Parkville, MD; his companion of 18 years, Marie Roop; two sisters, Linda Mowbray and husband, Keith of Clover Hill, VA and Shirley Jean Alt and husband, Larry of Upper Tract, WV; two brothers, Robert “Bob” McCray and wife, Mary; and Wayne McCray, all of Moyers, WV; nieces, Elizabeth Ann Scott and husband, Johnny of Brandywine, WV and Melissa Moats and husband, Ricky of Grottoes, VA; nephews, Gary Alt of Upper Tract, WV and Michael McCray; a number of great-nieces and great-nephews also survive; as well as his devoted dachshund, Coco.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved cat, Sammy.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA with the Rev. Dave Boger officiating.  Burial will follow in Doe Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Philip Rader, Jeff Rader, Rex Landes, Benny Mitchell, Joe Moats, Larry Miller, Lee Roberson and Steven Leathers.  Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at Obaugh Funeral Home.
